The Power of Love is a romance fiction book by Ronny Whitman set in the 1500s. An agreement was reached between Baron John Hamon Massey the Second and Lord John Davenport. The deal was that Lord Davenport’s son, Robert John Davenport, would get married to Baron John's daughter, Grace Rachel Marie Massey, in their seventeenth year, bringing both families together and merging them into one.

When Grace and Robert got to the age of ten, an arrangement was made for them to get acquainted with each other. On the first day of their meeting, Grace pleaded with Elizabeth, her sister, to accompany them because she felt nervous. As their adventure began, Robert and Elizabeth found out they had more things in common. Grace noticed this and encouraged their bonding because she hadn't a single likeness for Robert. She reeled Elizabeth into her plan, and gladly, she conceded. After spending five years together, Robert and Elizabeth realized the deep feelings they had developed for each other. But they knew what they were doing had grave consequences, according to the agreement, because Grace was the one meant to form a bond with Robert. Nonetheless, their relationship kept growing, and they decided when the time was right, they would let their families know. When the cat was finally let out of the bag, the families vehemently opposed the relationship, except for Robert's mother, Lady Davenport. Unknown to them, their relationship would have a ripple effect.

The love story in this book is innocent, genuine, and captivating. Robert and Elizabeth decided against all odds to resist anything that stood as a hindrance to them. What they did to ensure their families didn't annul their relationship left me amazed. After reading the novel, readers would be confident that love is a strong emotion that can make one go to any length to secure it.

Elizabeth appealed to me from the first scene of her introduction as Grace's sister. I could relate to her personality, one being her love for the outdoors. She also had a good heart, was open to helping people in need, and was selfless. This was evident when she wanted to keep her feelings aside to honor the already-made agreement and when she gave money to people evicted from their homes by Lord Davenport because they failed to pay their rent when due. I also liked her art tutor, Albrecht Dürer. He was patient with her and adjusted his standards to suit her learning style—one of the traits only a good teacher possesses.

I admired Robert's courage in demanding that his father allow him to take a look at the agreement. Knowing how ruthless and strong-hearted his father was, he didn't let that deter him.

The author's description of the forest was dazzling, and it effortlessly took my breath away. The illustrations were so vivid that readers would feel they were present in the narrative. How the author penned down the characters' emotions was intense and expressive, and as such, the reader was made to understand what they were feeling. The suspense level in the book was top-notch. I was so curious to know Robert's reaction when he eventually discovered what the agreement was and why it couldn't be amended. I like the sprinkle of humor in the book. An example was when the author wrote, "She used her nose to push them together, and when one tried to escape, the mother wolf quickly snatched it up with her teeth and placed it back with the others." Overall, the author's writing style was easy to understand as there were ambiguous words. Also, the storyline was appealing and retained my attention from start to finish. I'm excited to find out what their fate will turn out to be in the next book in the series! Therefore, it deserves a perfect rating.

I recommend this book to readers fascinated by romance fiction novels. The book was well-written and embodied the ability to retain maximum attention and interest.

Love Across Time: Two Souls Bound by a Contract Written in Gold is an engrossing fiction book by no other than an impressive writer, Ronny Whitman. This is the second book in the series. The two lovers who shared a love so strong but made mistakes that prevented them from being together in Book 1 were reincarnated.

Robert reincarnated as Marco, while Elizabeth reincarnated as Rebecca, and Grace, who was Rebecca's sister in her past life, came back as Maria, Marco's grandmother. Maria chose to come back to right her prior wrongs. Rebecca started having recollections of her past life with her lover, with whom she shared a forbidden love. But she knew this only later. She went into multiple relationships that ended up failing. In one of them, she conceived and gave birth to two daughters, Sara and Tiffany. Their birth gave her a purpose to live and not take her own life as she went through overwhelming situations that nearly broke her. Marco, on the other hand, learned about his past life from Maria. He got weary of waiting for his lover. Sometimes, he doubted if she truly existed. Thus, this led to his relationships with numerous ladies. They all ended up failing. The dreams and visions of Rebecca and Marco intensified, and this made them seek out ways to be reunited. However, Rebecca made the mistake of unknowingly inviting a negative spirit through an act she carried out, and this threatened to make their reunion impossible. Would they eventually be reunited? Pick up a copy of this book to find out!

Yet again, Ronny's excellent storytelling ability is brought to light. It was captivating to see how she carried the readers along by perfectly retaining their attention from the start to the climax of this narrative. I liked that there were mentions of the names and roles played by the focal characters in book one. This made it possible for people who weren't opportune or hadn't yet read it to have some knowledge of the characters that would be seen in the narrative. This feature makes it safe to say that this book can be read as a standalone novel.

I liked that the dreams and visions some of the protagonists had were shared with the readers. The author didn't just mention that they had dreams; rather, she went ahead and explicitly described them, and as such, it was easy to follow everything that happened without being confused or lost in the tale. It was reassuring to discover that Rebecca had reliable and commendable support systems that made sure she survived all her ordeals.

It was heartbreaking to discover what Rebecca's parents did after her separation from Richard. They allowed him back into the house without considering or even believing the severe abuse she had suffered at his hands. It was, however, soothing that her grandmother saw the truth in what had transpired. The love and care Marco's grandmother had for him enchanted me. I loved seeing how she constantly stood by him in his tiring times, helping him as much as she could while encouraging him that he would soon get what he was destined to get.

I'll rate this book four out of five stars. I was captivated by the excellent execution of the plot and nothing seemed out of place. Also, I found a piece of embedded information at the end of one of the chapters helpful. It informed the reader on how a negative entity can thrive in our minds, and not just that, it exposed me to what I can do to take away its power.

I deducted a star because I found several errors. Nonetheless, this book was a great read. Finally, I recommend it to individuals who believe in reincarnation and revel in well-written romantic tales.

One of the positives of the book is in how well-written the characters are. Heather is a layered protagonist. She's gentle yet resilient, loyal yet emotionally torn, as a result of trauma and love. Her emotional conflict between Connor and William is written with honesty, portraying not a love triangle but an exploration of soul recognition versus present-life loyalty. Connor, too, is a standout character. He is devoted and surprisingly compassionate in the face of Heather’s confession. His emotional maturity and unwavering love make him, dare I say, the book’s most grounded character. William, meanwhile, is tragic in his longing. A man who discovers a forgotten part of himself in Heather, questioning his duty, marriage, and identity. These three characters form an emotional triad that drives the story’s tension. Additionally, I loved how the author was able to immerse me in the visceral world of 17th-century Scotland. Destiny versus choice, loyalty versus longing, and honor versus desire are present throughout, making the overall plot exhilarating.

The author's writing style is emotionally expressive and descriptive. The pacing is somewhat slow, especially in the early chapters, which allowed me to settle into the world and understand the characters’ histories. The dialogue captures the flow of Highland speech without sacrificing clarity. The romantic moments are written with intensity and tenderness, and as such, the emotional beats landed effectively.

Overall, this book is a passionate exploration of the complexity of choice and the bonds that carry across lifetimes. It delivers a historical romance filled with heartache, loyalty, and destiny-driven connection. The emotional tension is gripping, the landscape beautifully rendered, and the relationships layered with sincerity and depth.
