Sneak Peek
Read an excerpt from Prologue of A Dragon's Story

In a time long ago, before history was recorded and during a time after the great Ice Age, where druids and magical creatures existed together in harmony. The Fae – Fairies, who existed, were the greatest and one of the most powerful creatures that lived on the planet, which was known to them as Terra. They came to this land after their own world was destroyed, blown out of existence, and when they arrived on Terra, it too had been destroyed – the land by a great Ice that seemed to cover most of the planet. Once they landed and disbanded their ships, they sent their people across the planet to repair – healing everything to what it once was, before the big Ice fell. In the process, they discovered a great species – large and powerful creatures that survived when all else was destroyed. Dragons, are what they called them since they were able to spill fire from their mouths, and there were hundreds, possibly thousands of them, and they contained magic like the fae and the fairies, but different. When the fae queen heard of these magnificent beasts, she immediately sent her most trusted advisors to speak with the dragons, to see if they would be willing to form a friendship that will allow them to both exist in harmony, and when her advisors returned, she was pleased with what she learned. “They are willing to meet with me,” Queen Allabella asked again. “Aye, Yer Majesty, they are as interested in us as we are in them.” “Then send word to the leader of the dragons and ask them if they would be willing to meet with me in a fourth night, at a place of their choosing.” Aife did not like this idea and as he bowed, “My Queen, should we naught pick the place? Tis would be better to protect ye if we chose the place to meet.” “Aife, I understand yer concern, but we are on their planet and must respect them in ways by giving them the choice,” Queen Allabella said. “We want to make friends, not enemies. I am sure they are as curious about us as we are about them. Once we do this, we can open portals to other planets and realms that wish to make a new home here on Terra.” “My Queen, why do ye call this Terra?” Aife asked. Queen Allabella smiled, “I can feel the energy – vibration of this planet and she whispers to me that her name is Terra.” “Ah, aye, My Queen.” “Now, Aife, go and arrange the meeting with the dragons.” Aife bowed, “as ye wish, My Queen.” Aife turned and left the queen's tent they erected where the fairies built her palace and sent five scouts to deliver the queen's message to the leader of the dragons. *** When the scouts arrived at the place where the dragon’s resided, and the first dragon they saw, they requested to meet with the leader of the dragons, which turned out to be an ancient dragon, elected because he was the oldest living dragon among them. He would lead the others until he chose to leave this world for the next. Dragons were like the fae – fairies, they could live forever – immortals. Bran and Ennis were taken to a large cavern where they were introduced to the ancient dragon, and out of respect, Bran and Ennis bowed as they said, “My Lord, tis a pleasure to meet ye.” “Thou are very welcome,” said the ancient in his strong rough hoarse voice. “I bring ye a message from our Queen Allabella. She wishes to make friendship with ye, as we are new to this world.” “Come then, I will bring thy request to the rest of the dragons and see what my kin think about thy idea?” Surprised and nervous to go in front of so many dragons, Bran asked, “My Lord, are ye no the one to make the decision?” The ancient smiled, “I am, but my decision will be after I consult with all the dragons, as nay decision is made without the approval of all. Although I have been elected the leader, we dragons together will decide.” Bran turned to look at the other fae that was with him and together agreed to trust the dragon since they could not sense any ill intent coming from the ancient. *** When they arrived at the place where all the dragons were gathered, there weren’t just a few, but hundreds, possibly thousands of dragons, and Bran and the rest of the Fae became uncomfortable. Yes, they were immortal, but the breath of a dragon could possibly destroy them, and to ensure no harm would come to them, they increased their senses and if they sensed any danger, they could use their power of invisibility to escape. So, once they were in range, Bran and the others increased their senses but felt no threat from the dragons. Instead, the dragons were as interested in them, as they were in the dragons, as the fae were different from what the dragons have ever seen in their long lives. These Fae, they called themselves, have pointed ears, long smooth silky hair, and their eyes were unlike the dragons had ever seen, as they seem to change color, and from what the dragon could detest, they changed based on their mood, and right now they were silver with a splash of white – fear, is what it was, but then they flashed to a fire orange-red – danger, ready to strike if need be. Dragons, be alert. I sense fear, yet danger as well. If we give them a reason, thy will attack, but I no naught what power thy have to harm us, the ancient said in the mind of all the dragons. With this, the dragons began to form a protective circle around the newcomers, which caused Ennis and Bran to become even more uncomfortable with the situation. We must be cautious, even though we sense no threat, tis can change, said Ennis in Bran’s mind. Ye…we must trust these dragons. Tis be friends of the fae and fairies, tis would be a good alliance, said Bran. Aye, tis so, but we must be cautious. Aye, we will. As the fae’s were standing in the center of the dragon’s cavern, the ancient one introduced them, and they were wonderfully surprised when all the dragons welcomed them to this new land and planet. “Our queen will be very pleased, and to celebrate our new friendship, she will want to plan a grand celebration once her castle is complete.” “Castle,” the ancient asked, “do thy think we will all fit in thy castle?” he asked with a laugh. Bran smiled, “aye, ye will. As ye, we have great powers, with the queen more than the rest, as she can expand her castle to accommodate ye, unless ye prefer the outdoors?” The ancient dragon was surprised to hear this. “Magic, thou have magic?” Bran smiled, “aye, we do.” “We have not heard of other creatures that have magic like us.” “Forgive me ancient one, but what shall I call ye? Do ye have a name?” The dragon grinned bearing all of his teeth, “I do, but thou cannot pronounce it, but thee may give me a name of your tongue?” Bran turned and looked at Ennis, it must be a great name, one of power for such a beast as he, said Ennis. Alasdair. “Ye shall be called Alasdair, which means defender of men,” Bran said, bowing to Alasdair. The ancient smiled, “I accept. Thou give me a fine name. From this day forward, I shall be known to thee as Alasdair.” This intrigued the other dragons, and they too wanted a name given to them by the fae, so one by one, Bran and Ennis gave each dragon their own Gaelic name.
